Autumn Wreath

Twig and Pom Pom Fall Wreath | Red Circle CraftsThis is actually my second fall wreath of the season, that I attempted. The first one was made from paper and a complete bust. I thought about trying to make it again, but differently, but I was so disheartened by it that I just went back to the drawing board.

I originally saw a tutorial from Yellow Mums for something similar. I really like the way hers turned out, but I wasn't crazy about making fabric flowers to put on it. I kind of hemmed and hawed about whether I wanted that look or not for a bit until I saw the tutorial on A Beautiful Mess for their twig and pom pom wreath. I already had those maroon pom poms (they're fallish, right?) and I thought, why not?

I used significantly larger pom poms and fewer sticks. All of my twigs are approximately 6" long and the pom poms are about the size of my palm. I kind of like the sparseness of it. Plus the colors lend themselves through the rest of the year if I decide not to do an evergreen wreath for Christmas.

Unlike the other two tutorials, I added a small hole to my cardboard base instead of gluing ribbon in to hang. I like when my wreath covers up the hanger on my front door. I just had to be careful to keep the glue from leaking out it when I was gluing the sticks in place.

I have to wait until November to put this up since I don't want to displace the skulls and bats on my front door right now.
