Day of the Dead Crafts

Sugar Skull Cut Outs | Red Circle Crafts

There are lots of pieces of Dia de Muertos that I try to incorporate into my own Halloween celebrations: the rituals associated with ancestors, food offerings, and definitely skulls. I love the beautiful colors, the flowers and the celebration of life and death all mixed together.

If your decorating style runs towards the bright and colorful, these might be the Halloween decorations for you. Here are some fun Day of the Dead style crafts for you to try.

Papel Picado Calaveras Tutorial from Happy ThoughtThis is where I found the template and instructions for my own sugar skull bunting that you see in progress at the top of the page. The Calavera Papel Picado Tutorial with a free printable is from Happy Thought.

Embroidered Felt Sugar Skull from Casa ArtelexiaThese felt sugar skulls from Casa Artelexia are adorable. This would be a great project to work on a with a group of friends so you end up with a whole slew all reflecting a different aesthetic.

Easy Balloon Skulls from Growing Up BilingualI'm pretty excited to try these Balloon Skulls from Growing Up Bilingual. Drawing on a balloon is fun all on it's own, but how amazing would it be to have these floating around on the ceiling or the floor during a party.

Gingerdead Cookies from Kailey's KitchenI love gingerbread, especially this time of year. Fall seems to make me want to bake and bring out all of the warming spices. These Gingerdead Cookies from Kailey's Kitchen are absolutely brilliant. I'm not sure my piping skills are up to the task, but maybe J's super culinary skills would help me.

All photos in this post belong to their respective and linked sites. Except the first photo, which belongs to me.
