Monster Travel Pillows

Monster Travel Pillow | Red Circle Crafts

When I made monsters for a living, I often had people ask me about travel pillows with monster faces on them. It seemed like a good idea, but was pretty low on my to do list. I'm finally making my own travel pillows for our trip to New York and figured it's only right to put monster faces on them.

I was hoping to make a full tutorial out of this. But alas I've run out of time.

Once I prototyped a few ideas and got a pattern down, I made a pillow out of cotton and stuffed it (over-stuffed really) with fiber fill. Then I made an envelope style pillowcase out of fleece that I decorated with more fleece for a face. You can see J's has a bow tie too.

I wanted a really firm pillow and fleece is a bit stretchy, so I decided to make the actual pillow out of cotton so it would have more support for my head. The fleece is nice and soft and doesn't have any bits of fiber fill sticking out to tickle my face.

My favorite part of these are the claws.

  1. Thanks! I kind of like that when they're being used, you almost can't see the monster-y bits. My own little secret.
